The President of the National Library of France visits the Revival worksite of the National Library
On October 19, 2012, the President of the National Library of France, Mr. Bruno Racine, and a delegation from the French Embassy, visited the construction site of the future building of the Lebanese National Library in Sanayeh. Mr. Racine and the members of the delegation met with officials from Erga Group who provided them with a detailed description of the ongoing construction works.

Then, the delegation met with the Director General of the Ministry of Culture, Mr. Faiçal Taleb and the Minister’s advisor, Mr. Michel de Chaderevian, in the presence of the Director of the Revival Project of the Lebanese National Library, Mr. Gérard Khajerian and the scientific advisor of the project, Dr. Maud Stephan. The meeting focused on the future cooperation between both libraries in the fields of digitization, conservation and preservation, information and technology, and the contribution of French trainers and experts to the Lebanese National Library, insisting on the input of the French experience in the operational development of the Lebanese National Library.

Mr. Racine and the French delegation ended their visit with a tour at the workshops of the Rehabilitation Project of the National Library in the Free Zone of the Port of Beirut, where they visited the various departments including: cleaning, restoration, cataloguing and indexing, collection development, and stacks. The person in charge of each department provided the delegation with a detailed description of the procedures and the advancement of work.
